Does your head voice count for your octave range?

I have a keyboard and I don't know how to calculate my octave range. Where do you start? Does the head voice (I don't know what it's called .. falsetto? Whistle register?) count as part of your range? If it does I think I can sing about 4 octaves, but it sounds suspiciously good for an amateur.
