Surgery for tarsal coalition, details on this surgery or ankle surgery in general?

After talking it over with my orthopedist for two years, I (along with my parents) have decided to pursue surgery for my talocalcaneal subtalar tarsal coalition ( a href="http://www.eorthopod.com/content/tarsal-coalition" rel="nofollow"http://www.eorthopod.com/content/tarsal-…/a ) in my ankle. I have tried anti-inflammatory non-steroidal meds, resting my ankle, and even a cortisone injection, but none have worked to relieve my pain. We are going to be scheduling surgery tomorrow, as soon as I get my CT scan results back. Basically the surgery will entail taking out a small piece of bone that has grown between my ankle joint and has somewhat fused the joint. My orthopedic surgeon said the surgery will be about 2 1/2 hours long, and that I will be under general anesthesia. After surgery I will be non-weightbearing and in a cast for 4 weeks, and then modified activity and a boot for the next 4. Does anyone know anything about this surgery? If not, anything about ankle surgery in general? Approximately how long will I have to stay in the hospital? What should I pack to bring to the hospital? Any other helpful advice? I'm only 13, so I'm pretty nervous to be getting surgery although I've been mildly sedated before for the cortisone injection. I'll be asking my doctor all of these questions when I talk to her tomorrow, but I just wanted some feedback before my appointment. Thank you so much for any answers!!!
