How do i reset my ipod? It was stolen from a family friend, aand we got it back with a pcode.?

We tried multiple p codes and now its disabled. It says to connect to itunes, and when i connect it to itunes it says to put in the pcode. stupid apple. So, i put it into recovery mode to restore it, and in the middle of downloading the update to restore it, the ipod turns back on asking for the pcode! WHAT DO I DO!!?!?!!
